POLISHING THE DEMON.....
A Brief Club History
For the last five years a team made up of mainly the two Rugby Regions of Blues and Dragons have been going up to the Aberystswyth Sevens Tournament in Search of Tackles, Tries and that Damn Illiusive win.
But the team only started because three students in Aberystwyth University had nothing better to do with their time than scam their mates into a weekend of Sun, Drink and Good times.
Instead they got rain, drunks and good tries....Against us but nevermind, with Shiny Demons its all about taking part and holding to that dream that we have enough players to Play the knock out stages on the second day!
This is our Story.

It was late March 2003, Wales had suffered their first Whitewash in the new Six Nations by Losing to Italy Away and a Drop Goal in the last minutes of injury in a nailbiting game against Ireland( Damn Ronan O'Gara) and Matthew Gwyn Edwards(Eds) and Gregory Thornley were having a chuck around in Eds side Garden in PJM.
Welsh Rugby was at it lowest ebb and what we needed was a beacon of light showing that the old skills of slick passing and running like a maniac were still vaild in the current game.
Eds turned to Greg and said 'Butt, ewe know that Sevens Tournament that Iain goes to every year, we shud do that!', Greg turned to Eds and replied 'Aint it quite a high standard like Eds?' 'Nah' said Eds 'Most people turn up with hangovers, we'd av a decent chance and its our last year in Aber!'. Having both tried to learn Lacrosse and succeeded in the Winter of 2002 the "its our last year" reason was as good as any to get Greg enthusiastic ' Aye, why not' said Greg and so the demon foundations were created.
But, trouble was approaching in the way of Exams, and as a House needs foundations it also needs a roof and solid walls....We needed a third founder! Eds and Greg found the third wheel to this tricycle of Rugby in Joe Mathias, regular drinking partner to Eds and Greg and collector of rare elaborate shirts Greg approached Joe in the only way he knew how ' Joe, you play Rugby dont you?' 'Yes' said Joe 'Fancy joining our rugby team?' said Greg 'Aye, why not' said Joe, words that would haunt for the rest of his Rugby Sevens days....
So the Organising began, Greg got the apllication forms, Eds got the bulk of the players and designed our first badge, and Joe wnet through many pubs trying to get sponsorship having a couple of pints on the way. There was one thing we could quite decide on.... A Name???
Joe Mathias
